El Ejido has a rich and varied cuisine, where gourmets not only will savour tapas or typical dishes inherited from the Alpujarra, but also a healthy cuisine based on the Mediterranean diet, prepared with locally grown fruit and vegetables (products exported worldwide). The proximity of the sea and the fishing history of some of the villages provide El Ejido cuisine with a wide assortment of fish, always present in the traditional dishes. We might also mention international cuisine and signature cuisine as an expression of the large diversity of restaurants you can find in El Ejido.
